Agreed anon. Really just came here to say "HOLY SHIT SOMEONE ELSE HAS SEEN THIS MOVIE OMG OMG OMG!"

Pardon me a "Holy shit other people have seen this!" moment.

Now that that's over, it is very sad. I always wanted to punch the prince in the face after he just goes up to Marina and says "LOL sorry, I don't want to marry you anymore, I found the girl I think rescued me!" What a douche.

I admire Marina for sparing his life. I would have been tempted to use that magic knife her sisters got her.

Me too. This is also my all time favorite version, even if it's sad.

Also seconding the HOLY SHIT SOMEONE HAS SEEN THIS MOVIE line. ♥

And another "OMG, OTHERS HAVE SEEN THIS ONE?"

I adored that one when I was a kid, even with the sad ending.

It makes me happy to see so many other people remember this film ♥ I saw it before the Disney version so it kinda spoilt that film for me because I knew that wasn't how the story goes.

It always used to make me tear up too OP. Poor Marina.

I saw this before I saw the Disney version and was horribly confused when my cousins/friends would want to let's-pretend Little Mermaid and be the little mermaid! xD

This version broke my heart as a kid because I was used to the Disney ending.

Glad to know someone else knows of it!

I saw this before I saw the Disney one. The Disney one has never been quite as good.

Does anyone have a link to a site, where one can watch that movie?
I know how the original story goes, but I never knew there was an anime of it.

YES YES YES. Oh man, I had TWO copies of this tape when I was a kid. Loved it so much.

It's okay.

Sometimes guys cry. It's called showing emotions. It's human.

Such a beautiful film. It absolutely ruins me emotions every time I watch it.

Sometimes I enjoy making it a double feature with Rusalochka and just totally cry my eyes out.

OMG that old 70s "Masterpiece Theatre" type anime gets me so emotional, I can't even watch it. A lot of 70s anime is like that in general. WTF WAS GOING ON IN JAPAN IN THE SEVENTIES

My mom bought this one for me. I could never watch it till the end because it was so super depressing for me. IDK

I love Disney, but man, as far as I'm concerned this is the only true ending to The Little Mermaid. ♥

I Love this version, I still have it on VHS and first watched it when I was 4 (yay first anime I ever saw)

The ending was just so so sad and makes me cry everytime.

I know there is a DVD copy availiable out there and one day I will own it (makes me laugh though because they use different art for the cover so no one realises it is this version)

I was very small when I saw this version, yet I didn't cry when Marina died while her dolphin friend cryed her name. I already read the original tale though. But still this version got etched in my memory.

I want to see this movie! I always cried at this point in the story.

Damn, this movie made me cry buckets when I was a kid. The part where Fritz starts calling for Marina KILLS me. Best adaption of the fairytale, period.
