Sadly, that's what happens in several Gabriel/von Glower fics I have read. :T In one she was turned into something close to a psycho who only wanted to keep Gabriel for herself no matter what HE wanted, in another she was dismissed after a few paragraphs (if I remember correctly, she was also treated as though she had no idea at all what she was doing with the whole theatre plot, which of course in the fic backfired horribly because she didn't know what the hell she was doing) and then was pretty much ignored until the end. In yet another one she was portrayed pretty well, even helping von Glower and Gabriel along... and at the very end it turned out she was actually still planning on killing von Glower, which utterly disappointed me because otherwise the fic was great.

Overall, with few exceptions, if she's not bashed she's either ignored (as if not being paired up with Gabriel cancels out the fact she's a very important person to him, a great ally and a friend) or treated like she doesn't know a thing about how wonderful von Glower is because she's prejudiced or something. Nevermind he is a werewolf and, canonically, also hunted people at least at some point of his life; which is something he apparently never gets to be confronted about.

Not to mention how demonized she is in some fics for keeping von Glower's letter from Gabriel. I'll admit it wasn't the best thing she could do, but she was worried and under pressure and had the best intentions. Von Glower himself was manipulating as hell with Gabriel, and gets no blame at all for it. A pity, because he's such an interesting character that it would be so much fun exploring his flaws, too. He's far from being a saint.

Dude, I totally agree with you about Von Glower being manipulative...I can't believe people make Grace out to be the bad guy there. Actually, knowing shippers, it doesn't surprise me at all.
