(Anonymous) 2011-12-15 12:06 am (UTC)(link)Not to mention I loved the Spock/Uhura friendship dynamic, and felt sorry for Kirk because in TOS he destroyed his lady love (The Enterprise) for Spock, so I do think in every universe they should be #1 to each other. Which makes it not fair to Uhura to be stuck in that unless she doesn't mind being #2 priority wise...
However, I do think the amount of wank was ridiculous. But if you think about it, it was the biggest and most volatile change that has immediate impact on our viewing of the series. Seriously, the destruction of Vulcan impacts plot, but doesn't really affect the entire ship dynamic.
And when people are so invested in these characters... well, I'm not surprised that there was such wank.
Ah well. I admittedly just hope that S/U becomes BFFs while the bond between Kirk and Spock becomes Epic and we get to see more McCoy acting like a BAMF.
