Oh, I know how that feels, but the fact that it's noncanon did register with me properly, so I guess I disassociated canon!Leo from that Leo.

Actually, when I'm highly aware that it's noncanon, it really rang true for me that SOME person (definitely not Leo, but some random person in that sort of position) might have that kind of reaction and act that way given the circumstances of 9/11, then realize how horrible he has been acting and repent and apologize.

I've never understood what use it serves to keep on refusing to forgive someone after they realize how horrible and wrong their thought processes or prejudices were. I mean, yeah it was bad that they had those thoughts, but if they're already stuck with their actions, isn't it admirable that they admitted they were wrong instead of refusing to open their mind? I think that for SOME person (not Leo!) it was a really interesting moment and the follow-up when he realizes how wrong he was was really resonant too. Given how close after 9/11 that scene was set, I was actually impressed.

Of course, once again, this is all assuming it was just SOME person, not Leo. Never Leo. Never, ever, EVER Leo. Not in a million years.

First: YAY, a West Wing secret!!!

Second: As much as I LOATHE and disapprove of what that poor guy had to go through, it was very realistic. And though I hated what AU!Leo did, I appreciated that he was at least honest about his (truly horrible) reasons for interrogating the man and he later took responsibility for his behavior. It was certailny an ugly moment for Leo, but it didn't take away my love for his character as I think the sad fact is, a lot of people would've done the same thing in AU!Leo's position.

I was more annoyed with CJ's whole liberty/schmiberty role in that episode. The whole dialogue there was just so cheesy, too.

It's been explicitly declared non-canon since it first aired- it was an episode was written to address 9/11 and aired about two weeks later. At the beginning of the episode, Bradley Whitford describes it as "a play" featuring the characters instead of a real episode.

I hate that scene too, but I feel like it really reflects the place where a lot of people were two weeks after 9/11, when this episode aired.

Yeah. It seemed honest and angry and real. Which is where a lot of people were at that time. No matter how inappropriate that scene may have been, it was a realistic reaction for the time.

Incidentally, this is one of my favorite episodes.

Ugh, I hate Aaron Sorkin that entire fucking episode and just pretend it doesn't exist.
