I watch it every year.

To mock the hell out of it.

The only redeeming part is that it does provide a nice counterpoint to Rudolph's Shiny New Year where the moral is "If you have big ears and it makes people laugh at you for looking stupid, be happy! You're making their day better by giving them something to laugh at!"

I don't consider RSNY canon though, since they use a Rudolph model from another special, not the Rudolph movie. (Yeah, I've watched these every year. Can you tell? XD )

Heh. I just watched Rudolph's Shiny New Year this morning. Yes, I hate that everyone laughs at poor baby Happy's ears and Rudolph's explanation to him at the end is bogus. But I love it all the same. The original Rudolph still kicks its ass. So does Year Without a Santa Claus.

I always found Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to be creepy as fuck. I think it had something to do with the models they used for the stop-motion animation, but goddamn did that give me nightmares as a kid. Seeing icons and ads and things with those characters still kind of freaks me out.

Nestor is my favorite. We were so disappointed that it wasn't in the collection of Christmas specials my dad bought. But it was a pretty bad collection anyway, didn't even have the second Little Drummer Boy.

I never heard of Nestor, but I can't stand that Rudolph movie. I could understand the kids bullying Rudolph, but it always disturbed me how the adults did too. And Santa was an ASSHOLE. Santa! Yukon Cornelius and that little elf dude were cool, though.

Every year my mother would park herself and I in front of the TV to watch this movie, and I would inevitably grow fearful of the scene where Nestor's mother sacrifices herself to keep him alive through the blizzard. Not because the death was disturbing or sad, but because without fail, my mother would clutch my hand and stare at me with tear stained eyes, and declare she would drape me with her slowly-cooling carcass to keep me warm, if it were needed.

Yes. I am intimately acquainted with Nestor the Long Eared Donkey. The fucker.

OP, I LOVE Nestor! I remember seeing that movie when I was really little and being upset because there were no Nestor dolls in the stores. Back then, everything on TV had to have products in my mind. This year, I've been upset because I haven't seen the special and I haven't been able to find a copy on DVD or torrent or what have you.
