You know, I agree with you, and yet... I think I like Fallout 3 more anyway.

That said, let's see the tumblr crowd get into Fallout 1/2. I dare them.

personally I think the world needs more Myron fic, or crazy shit involving The Master, but w/e.

Okay, now bear with me that I've only played NV once and never finished -- I got overwhelmed with the ending choices and just bailed. (I know, I know, lame.)

I think if I were to really boil it down, Fallout 3 felt more like Fallout 1 where NV felt like Fallout 2, and I've always preferred 1 to 2. There's a certain desolate loneliness to the Capital Wasteland that isn't QUITE there in the Mojave, and part of that is because the Mojave is under occupation by NCR/the Legion.

I've yet to play NV's DLC, though, so my opinion may yet change when I do a replay next year.

lol. I completely agree with everything you just said, except I still like New Vegas better.

idk, what bothered me about Fallout 2 was that it didn't feel cohesive enough - it felt like a bunch of different stories shoved together, where Fallout 1 was all leading up to The Master. 3 was just so ... anticlimactic and sterile feeling. NV is so intense, crazy, and so well put together.

I completely 100% agree with you on Fallout 2. I get into big fucking fights with people over that game because I really do prefer the first game.

I found the writing to be a bit messy in that game, and its sheer size introduces new problems that Fallout 1 didn't have. FO2 brings very little that's actually new to the table, and most of what is new isn't that great.

Fallout 1 is superior in almost every way. It's a smaller, shorter game, yeah, but that means the writing is tighter and the gameplay doesn't meander as much. I found the combat difficulty progression to be a little more balanced, as well.

yeah, I remember reading in the Fallout Bible that each of the major cities in Fallout 2 was written by a different person, including the Enclave stuff at Navarro. and the cool stuff they added (i.e., the car) was so buggy that it didn't even matter (i.e., the car disappearing and taking all my best shit with it).

other than you, I have never met another person who agrees with me on F1 vs. F2. people get so defensive about this that it is insane. I'd fight with them too, except that by virtue of liking New Vegas my opinion is irrelevant, obviously.
