The religious undertones don't bother me in Sister Act 2, because it's a series about nuns. But, yeah, Glee could take a few lessons from that film. I'm totally fine with switching off my brain and enjoying Glee for what it is, but I honestly can't remember the last time a musical number on the show actually left me feeling uplifted. The longer it goes on, the less emotion I feel from the songs. I don't know if it's the quality going down or me becoming desensitised to it.

I wish Glee would do more choral-type arrangements because the constant solos get old very fast, and I don't see how constantly highlighting one kid over and over again while barely using the other kids (if at all) is going to make a show choir competitive. Those arrangements also tend to be their better songs imo.

And Sister Act 2 is better than Glee will ever be. The writing on the show is simply too shitty and inconsistent, which is a shame because it had a lot of potential when it first started up.

One of my favorite movies. I really wish Glee had been like Sister Act, religious or not.

Yes, this so much! Sister Act 2 has much better characterizations, writing, songs, and actors. I actually cared about those kids as opposed to the Glee ones. And the way the music was used highlighted it without feeling out of place. Often when I watch Glee the song numbers feel so pigeon holed and forced. The only time it doesn't is when they're at a competition. The kids in Sister Act 2 lived and breathed music and when they sang outside of preforming it made sense and flowed really well. Ugh, someone needs to make a show like this to compete with Glee in the musical tv category.

I lost interest in Glee 2-3 episodes in but I love Sister Act 2 and would totally watch it if it were more like it.

(And because my mind loves to think conspiracies: Secret Glee public-waters-testing secret by Glee producers? If so, adding a nun to the show will not magically fix things...)
