lolol mte. Once the secret mentioned the guy having cancer I was like "hmm, an awful love story about unlikable teenagers and one of them has cancer. If one of them has a big reconciliation moment with their father for some reason, this would sound exactly like something good old Mr. Sparks would write"

I hate scenarios like this too. The one time I've seen it where the girl actually told the guy off in a sort-of similar situation was in an episode of The Proud Family where the main character Penny was interacting with a guy in a wheelchair who was a total jerk to everyone. She finally told him off and he's all "It's because I'm in a chair isn't it!"

I wish there were more situations written that way if only to show that yes, disabled and terminally ill people are capable of being jerks. They got the short end of the stick in life but that's no excuse to treat everyone else like garbage.

Oh hey. It's that short story we had to read in creative writing... I didn't think the guy treated the girl like trash in the story but I could be wrong. Sounds like they changed it a lot.

Yyyeahhh... I remember watching it, and while I thought the movie itself wasn't that terrible (in general, I thought the acting was actually fairly good), but the writing/plot left me feeling really, really EMPTY. Noticeably so. I WANTED to like it, and I did up until the point I realized that he was just going to keep right on douchebagging, and she was never going to get anything out of the love she put in. It was like the writer(s) couldn't decide between redemption romance and "trainwreck relationships are trainwrecks," so they just decided to merge the two and it lost any meaning it might have otherwise had.
