Agree. A lot of the time, people who say that about BL manga have only seen a very limited selection because they're not actually that into the genre, and often they've just seen what people spork or poke fun at and think that's what all BL is like. Also "all yaoi manga is crap" has become a new "I've matured and I have grown up tastes now look at how grown up I am" battle cry in fandom.

Yeah. I mean, I get the bitching about seme/uke, but most of the stuff I liked when I was more into it didn't slavishly follow convention. Something like Under Grand Hotel has a main seme and uke but all sorts of different things happen. And it has a plot, gasp!

Couldn't you say that about any genre that people don't like, really? If you don't like something, you generally tend to avoid it, certainly to the point where you're not looking particularly hard for good examples of the genre. It's not really that surprising

I mean, I'm really into mecha but I'm not going to hate on people who don't like the genre because they don't like a few super popular anime out there that I don't think are particularly good examples of the genre. If they don't like it, they don't like it.
