Base animals we may not be but we are animals. Intense emotional situations can and do happen, sometimes in front of others and there isn't much we can do to stop it. For example if anyone gets a call that a beloved family members has died, I'm sure some tears would leak out no matter who you are or where you are.

What is "every little thing"?
You realize that there are no rules which situation should make you cry and which situation shouldn't?
For some people crying is important to deal with a certain situation.
Everyone has different ways to deal with shit and not everyone is the same. To some people losing an item might be incredibly tear-jerking. Others only cry at deaths. Some don't cry at deaths at all.

I think it's really stupid to say "it's okay to cry at a death but it's not okay to cry on something lesser". All people are different and luckily we're no machines.
If someone's crying you're free to offer them sympathy or not. But going around saying what kind of crying is acceptable and what kind is not indeed makes you look like a big jackass and you surely did that kind of shit in this thread *shrugs*
