I think it's been stated by the OP that they are Hindu and thus believe in reincarnation. In that context the secrete makes a lot of sense. This is not anymore deluded than any other religion.

Most religious people who are on the margins of the internet don't mock other religious beliefs like that, so way-to-go on assuming things! (You know what they say about when you Assume~ it makes a A$$ of u and me. :D )

As for myself, I am rocking a Christmas tree while blasting hymns re-done by non-mainstream artists (God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen by Loreena Mckennit is one of the most gosh-darned beautiful things ever) and researching the beliefs of my ancient ancestors, and rockin' out to my own. So I am a bit of a odd duck, yes. Thus the 'on the margins of the internet' thing. (Really, I am trying to remember the last dickish christian I met in the alternative slash-discussing areas of the internet... It was awhile ago.)

Anywho- I think the way the author phrased it made more people do a double take then the actual secret. It had just enough info to confuse, but not enough info to dispel the initial 'wat' reaction to those who aren't very familiar with the workings of Hinduism/other sects of other reincarnation based religions/spiritualities.

Heck, my good friend and fellow Guild Leader is Hindu and we have talked a lot about our respective religions to learn more from each other, and I still had to blink at the screen a bit to sort out what world view this secret is from. *shrugs* But yes, the blatant mocking is ridiculous.

(And as a Christian myself, I personally call out Creationist Christians on making fun of other culture's creation stories, because like being made from clay is any weirder then being birthed by a goddess/fragments of a shattered and reformed cosmos/the seed of Raven being spilled inside a seashell/etc when you think about it.)

I do not celebrate Christmas for the religion (in fact, my family is so atheist that I got mocked for being agnostic), I celebrate it for family and presents (though, sadly, I'm the only person in my household who's actually done anything about getting presents so far...)

I wasn't mocking the OP, though. The secret did confuse me a bit.
