My starship Enterprise is a lot sluttier and somewhat seedier than people might think. For example, under the uniforms everyone is wearing leather bondage outfits.

Except McCoy, he is commando.

They also have a supply of Ferengi energy whips, and three thousand gallons of whipped cream in the inventory.

It wouldn't work for me either, but I can picture Spock being all philosophical about it or yeah, getting off on it.

(I don't even ship it to be honest but I'm not going to deny the huge subtext.)

Oh, I totally know people like that in real life. Good for them! I'm a bit like that, myself. I agree it'd be super out of character for Spock, though. And probably Kirk. Based on Kirk's relationship with Edith, I suspect he is one of those people who sleeps around alot while single but wouldn't cheat on his partner in a monogamous relationship.

In my headcanon, Kirk and Spock were attracted to each other in TOS, but repressed it and never. ever. ever. talked about it. So, Kirk was single and therefore free to seduce all the space babes he wanted without it being "cheating." It was only after the series ended and they were separated for all those years they finally admitted their feelings.

That's just my headcanon, though, so take it as you will :)

The only way I can see it working in TOS is exactly like that. There couldn't have been a romantic relationship between them during the five year mission, at least not during the time shown in TOS, it just wouldn't have worked.
