actually, and in all seriousness, I'm pretty much a mental fucking wreck and have several triggers that cause genuine and serious flashbacks and panic attacks. Its a rare day that goes by where I don't get triggered by something, in seriousness and without flippancy. However, it is my mental health, and I will face those problems and continue to improve and recover. I acknowledge, as part of my recovery, that others are not responsible for my mental health and that wanting everything conveniently labelled so I can hide will only make my problems worse. Recovering means facing those triggers, getting triggered, and accepting responsibility for over coming the effects.

I just want to commend you, anon. This is what I wish more people would do. I also have severe triggers but I work through them and I don't freak out when I'm not warned. It's about getting over it and working your way through it.

do you also acknowledge as part of your recovery that what works for you does not necessarily work for others, and that others may be at different stages in their recovery process?

It's like, I might have the same illness as someone else but the same meds won't work on both of us. Everyone is fucking different, acknowledge that and empathize
