Seriously, go check right now before you get landed with a bill you don't want. Also, please spread the word around so that way more people can hear it.

Jesus Christ, this community is whiny.

LJ changes, people want to move to DW asap.
Techno does his best to make the layout resemble the old one, people want him to switch back to the new LJ.

It seems to have switched back (I got the new one yesterday), and I def didn't do anything.

I switched the layout to one of the workarounds being spread around, it's meant to look as close to the old style as possible. (:

I would prefer to switch back to the new one. The expand button no longer works for me. I have to go through and click each one individually and it's a minor annoyance.

I like this workaround, I think it looks good. I'd still prefer DW but if we're not going to move there, then I can live with this.

Speaking of Dreamwidth, does anyone have some decent DW fandom community recs?

The workaround is horrible. I have to expand every single comment manually, NOT FUN.

Problem With Expand

I've noticed in the places where comments need to be expanded that the ability to expand all the comments at once has disappeared. You have to click on each Expand link one at a time in order to read each comment; not bad when there aren't that many comments to expand, but a completely different matter once more comments come in.

switch back. somehow this workaround is annoying me just as much. It feels like a really broken version of the regular layout but is still more usable than newlj. At this point the dreamwith switch is sounding like a really good idea

Good god Techno, what have you done? Plain layout is plain & makes me think of a mental hospital. Seriously, I wasn't even sure I was at the right site at first. Please, I beg of you, bring back the old layout.

instead of clicking expand all, i just open up the thread in a new link, and then the expand button works on larger subthreads. it works okay for me so far, so i like this workaround. :)

Not bad. This is a good workaround. I know a few other comms also playing with their own CSS codes to make similar workarounds, so I appreciate you attempting one and promoting it!

Since this is a panfandom comm, and has as great a reach as most others. Any chance of you doing a special post where people submit what comms are moving or mirroring to DW?

Or place where people can link to workarounds? My flist hasn't posted about workarounds and I'm sure there's others who don't want to keep trawling ljnews and the like to find them. Or even know where to begin find them.

I'm torn to be honest. While I like having a look-a-like layout, it is missing a few features. It doesn't make it impossible to view though, but then neither did the new one. My biggest peeve is on the collapsed comments there's no timestamp. I'd have to expand it to find out what is new. And the parent expand link isn't visible for me, if it exists. Then again the new layout took forever to load long threads of comments. I wish LJ didn't change anything. /shrug
