I don't think their future is so bad. Sheldon is selfish and doesn't understand other people's feelings but Amy has been handling him pretty well as a friend and I think that's not going to change now that they're a couple. Besides, the contract goes both ways and Amy's intelligent enough to challenge it if she thinks some changes must be done.

No, that's a good point. I love them both, but the way she's kind of desperate for intimacy and keeps kinda begging him is really awkward to me. I'm determined that he should stay asexual, but why does that mean she can't have what she wants? Gah.

No; no sex. It was done very well. Sheldon proposed a change of paradigm of their relationship. Then he presented her with a Couples' Agreement document which she had to initial here, and here, and here. Hand-holding is only allowed in certain specific situations. It's all very Sheldon.

That whole ending to that episode made me so uncomfortable and feel so bad Amy and made me so mad at Sheldon for that stupid contract.

She looked so annoyed and all "again? dammit" over Sheldon pulling some of that shit. And completely denying something that, for her, the person he supposedly cares about, needs? All cause he doesn't like it/finds it uncomfortable/is supposedly above all that/what have you? Just...no. I didn't like this paring from the start and that just makes me dislike it even more.

I feel so sorry for her. She's gonna be miserable. And even though she can challenge him, he's still gonna find as many ways around having to get intimate with her and it's gonna get ugly after a while. :/

In short, I agree. And I don't even think Sheldon realizes how his usual quirkiness can come off being seen as bad with this. Which makes it worse.

Part of me would like seeing Sheldon give in, but the other part of me knows it's so out of character.
I think Sheldon should just allow Amy to fulfill her physical needs with other men. No big deal, really.

I wouldn't want Sheldon to change either, but I really feel for Amy being in a relationship with someone who isn't interested in physical intimacy. The problem is that the episode in the secret the only reason he was there was because Amy went out on a date and he was jealous. Sheldon has shown the past he's not good with sharing his things, so I honestly couldn't see him being ok with Amy seeing other men to satisfy her needs.

She wanted the same things he did at that time.

She's the one who's changed her expectations of their relationship - not him.

She has agency; she can leave at any time. He has no means of control over her except what she hands him.

You know, you may be right, but dammit. If he supposedly cares about her, they either need to compromise or break it off. BOTH of them. It's not just HER decision here. Apparently Sheldon cares for her (not that i can really see it in that way, but I'm not the writers) and he can either make compromises that DON'T involve that god damn contract, or HE needs to realize that she's not there just to "take care of him like his mommy did." That's exactly what he expects. And don't fucking tell me Amy knew that. That aspect of it she probably most likely didn't know about until it came up.

You can't fucking blame a girl who actually needs some physical needs when she's with her "boyfriend." And vice versa.

He has agency, too. He can damn well break it off, too. B/

Sorry, I don't get it. How is it not just her decision? If she's unhappy in the relationship, she can and should make the decision to not be in that relationship anymore. That has nothing to do with Sheldon; if she wants out of the relationship and stays in, that's her damn fault.

Because he's ALSO involved? It's HIS relationship just as much as her's. He agreed to up the relationship status. So...YES, it's not just HER decision. If there are changes, they need to talk them through or they BOTH need to make the decision that it's a shit relationship and be done with it.

Sheldon won't learn anything if she just goes "You know what? Fuck it. I'm out" and leaves.

Sheldon can be very self-centered but I don't see him as emotionally abusive. He does respect her. I can see Amy being unsatisfied if she's not getting the physical parts, but it's seems like she decided having someone she can talk to and relate to is more important and a worthwhile reason to be in the relationship.

I'm very behind on the show, but this really sounds like a bad situation all around. I don't think Sheldon would ever be intentionally abusive, but he understands so little about human interaction that the effect could still be really harmful. He's not malicious, but he can and will be incredibly callous.

As for Amy, it just seems like a no-win scenario. Sure, she can get sex elsewhere (assuming that's talked about upfront and not a betrayal), but to be in a relationship and in love with a person with whom you will never have physical intimacy? IDK, maybe I'm projecting, but that sounds unworkable and emotionally devastating to me.

Yeah, I guess IA, it is pretty depressing for a comedy. Maybe it'd be best if Amy founds someone else and she and Sheldon decided to just be BFFs.

I feel bad for Amy as well. But at the same time, Sheldon shouldn't have to do anything that makes him uncomfortable. It gives me hope that someone might someday date me :)

I just hate the whole idea of her suddenly liking him. Because I liked that it wasn't like "Oh because she's a girl she will fall in love with Sheldon" and that she wasn't entirely a female Sheldon and wanted guys to like her and hang out with Penny and Bernadette. I used to dislike her when she was completely female Sheldon but ever since she became friends with Bernadette and Penny I've been liking her a lot more.

Plus I just can't see Sheldon in a relationship at all. I'd feel sorry for whoever he was with because of his personality. :/
