That's the point. Kurt is often seen as 'the girl' of the relationship, therefore he must be shorter. Since Colfer is a few inches taller than Darren, they have to do some tricks to make it seem like Blaine is the taller of the pair.

Not the OP, but kudos to them for posting pictorial evidence. Lots of people have noticed it, and if you notice, in the right image, they not so subtly PHOTOSHOPPED Darren to look taller than Chris.

I think it has to do with the 'women must shorter than men' myth that's constantly perpetuated in the media. Since this is a gay couple and people want to see Kurt as 'the girl' of the relationship, they attempt to make it seem like he's shorter than Blaine. If you look at a typical seme/uke relationship, the 'man' of the relationship is always taller than his partner. I don't entirely agree with OP, but I see where they're coming from.

WAY taller. Chris Colfer is pretty tall, and I think Darren Criss is something like 5'6

Actually, imdb says Colfer's 5' 10 1/2" and Criss is 5' 9". So less than two inches' difference. Colfer's just so thin that he looks taller, and most Glee men are taller than average, so Criss looks noticeably short by comparison.

Colfer is now at least 5'11" and there's no way on this earth Darren Criss is 5'9". He fudges his height up to 5'8" but he's probably slightly under that.

That's over 3 inches right there.

I don't think so? I think the seme/uke stereotype comes when the girlier one is shorter and you make him bottom, not when the girlier one is taller and is made to top. Then it doesn't fit into any stereotype, really, unless it's a fic where Kurt is suddenly really manly or something (which I would read for the lulz).
