HAHAHA I was just talking to somebody about shipping that the other day (I think there's mention of a queen or something in the lyrics though, sorry if that disappoints - though I guess you could hear it metaphorically in terms of gender too).

ESL speaker here with a silly OT question. OP mentions "baby" as non-gendered... how frequently is it used for referring to people other than girlfriends? (it's heavily gendered in my language and I'd assumed it was the same in English)

This is part of the reason I'm totally into Miguel's "Sure Thing" right now. It's interesting gender-neutral outside of a reference to the other person's "pretty little hand", which doesn't necessarily indicate a female one.
