...what are you talking about, anon. Charles/Erik has been deliberately played up as gay since the comics. Claremont clearly ships it. This isn't just slash fans being delusional, this is actors and directors coming out and saying "shit's gay". Mutation has been used as an allegory for being gay for a while in X-men and Charles/Erik just milks that. They just won't make it canon because lol homophobia, basically.

My view of Erik/Raven is tainted by how he fucks her over in the other movies. I can see her one-sidedly worshipping him, but I don't think he cares for her.

Very much this. I think the only reason Erik starts up any kind relationship with her is because he is fetishizing her mutation, not because he cares about her as a person.

I agree with everything in this comment! Especially the actors/directors part. James McAvoy (from what I've seen in interviews) clearly ships it. ;)

I firmly believe that if they put James in charge, he'd make Charles/Erik canon in the first few minutes of the sequel.

The more I read of James' opinions about Charles and what should happen with him in the sequel, the more I genuinely wish they'd just hand that character over to him. He just has ALL THE RIGTH IDEAS.

+1, and ANYONE who says "omg shipping them as gay is RUINING THEIR AWESOME BROMANCE" has to seriously look at themselves and what I could label as homophobic sentiment, seriously.
