Marry me!!!! We can roll our eyes at Cherik shippers and ship Magneto and Mystique (even if it is a little messed up/manipulative/fetishized) and enjoy bestfriendshipping/broshipping Charles and Erik FOREVER. And now everyone knows why I'm anon (other than being a bit lily livered).

Also, Magneto fetishizes EVERYONE'S mutations simply because they are mutations. He's often most creepily fond of his DAUGHTERS' powers (Lorna because she has his, Wanda because she's uber powerful and can mess with the fabric of reality and all such things...) in just about every portrayal...so yea. The thing is, I can't ship Erik/Raven as a stable relationship because I think he sees her as nothing but her mutation. That seems to be the case with Erik and most everyone except Charles to me, whom I think he sees as more of a person, albeit a person whose philosophy he can't abide by. I think there's a bit more to Erik and Charles's relationship than simply admiration/fetishization of his mutation (though I'm not too sure it's sexing like a lot of the fandom seems to think).

yes, magneto's passionate about mutations because he revels in kinship, but in the movie we are discussing, he only bonded AS A WHOLE PERSON, rather than just as a mutant, with xavier.

actually, in xmfc he barely even bonded with raven. we never see him sharing something about himself with her. they talk exclusively about her in all their interactions. she knows zilch about him.

Erm, because they had a different interpretation than you? One that seems to match at least some of the people involved with the making of First Class? A movie that was ALL ABOUT these characters and their connection, so much so that only the actors for those two parts were cast with chemistry in mind, and left everyone else secondary, even Mystique, who got turned into an insecure mess willing to go along with the first person who would fuck her in her blue form?
