YES THIS. I don't care if people don't like Charles/Erik or if they like it better as a friendship, we all have our shipping preferences, but sorry, saying "omg romance would diminish their ~brotherly bond~" reeks of homophobia. Wouldn't being a couple make their whole story even more "deep and complicated"?

ia. i mean, my personal reading of first class is that there were ~feelings, but they never got to act on them because 1. pre-Stonewall time setting, 2. charles' prudishness and most important 3. erik's focus on shaw. so i don't think they were a couple myself, but i do think the ~feelings angle adds to their story rather than detracts.

it would provide even more reason as to why they bonded so quickly (less than a year of "friendship" and they are weeping for each other on a beach? a connection that will withstand decades of them being enemies? really? after less than a year?) and adds another layer to charles' "you're not alone".
