I haven't played Pokemon in YEARS. Last one I played was... uh... the first Mystery Dungeon (Red Rescue)? But holy crap I miss being able to plow through everything with my Blastoise. Original generation FTW.

Semi-related: my primary machine is named Blastoise. Even though the "avatar (http://ramen.layer-infinity.net/main.php?g2_itemId=155)" I later designed for him looks nothing like the Pokemon he's named after, I just can't let go of the name. However, I did keep Hydro Pump as his ultimate attack, which involves phase-transferring dual water pressure cannons for splashy pew-pew action. >:D

Even now, Pokemon is an integral part of my childhood. I understand that feeling of setting off on an adventure...even now, when I first started White, that feeling is still there.

I'm replaying Heart Gold right now and it's the most ridiculously nostalgic experience, because Gold is the most nostalgic game for me. It's just so much fun, and I have so many great feelings/memories involving Gold. <3 I like other games better nowadays, but I have so many positive emotions linked to Pokemon games that it's just great. :)

My tenth Birthday was the same. I was so entranced and overjoyed with Blue when I opened it.

Oh god, yes. Even though I realize each generation has gotten objectively better -- and as such, Black is my favorite -- nothing has compared to when I unwrapped Red as a kid on Christmas. Every now and then, I boot it up and take my Hall of Fame team for a spin, and no Pokemon ending since can hold a candle to me seeing those guys get inducted all over again.
