Yeah, it's pretty good. Don't be intimidated by it's long run, either; it's pretty episodic, and they explain important things pretty well for new viewers.

Danson's character is just wonderful though he's just a little quirky without it being too blatant or overwhelming. And he's just... yeah. (-:

The seasons with Laurence Fishbourne bugged me. I like him as an actor, and I even liked his character. But it bugged the SHIT outta me that the explicitly made him a newbie, yet not far into his run, they show him schooling characters who'd been around since episode one on forensics work. What the fuck?

It also bugged me that with William Petersen gone, we finally had a female lead of the CSI, but Fishbourne's character got way more attention and screen time (and a higher place in the credits) than her. Again, despite the fact that she's been on the show since day one.

I agree with everything you've said, about why I couldn't watch those seasons, except for the credits. Credits have more to do with pedigree before longevity. Laurence Fishbourne would be higher simply because he's award-winning/nominated. If LF was a woman, it would be the same.

But I like Ted Danson, so I'll check out this season.

I loved Laurence Fishburne, though. I've only watched one of TD's eps so far. Nothing against him, I'm just resistant to change. It took me long enough to still like the show after William Petersen left and now there's someone else to get used to :/

Totally agreed, OP!

I think Ted Danson breathed new life into a show that lost its way for a bit after William Petersen left. I'm not a TD fan per se, but I actually enjoy his character, and I like the way TD plays him.

My only hesitancy is that I'm waiting to see if the writers turn it into the Ted Danson Show in the same way they turned it into the Laurence Fishburne Show when he played Ray. To put it mildly, I couldn't stand Ray or the way LF played him, and more than anything, I hated that characters like Greg – and even Nick – who'd been there from the beginning almost became like an afterthought. But that said, it doesn't seem to have become that thus far, so I'm holding out hope that it won't. :)

That's not to say that we couldn't use more Greg, though – and Nick too.

Ted Danson has me actively watching again rather than passively. I never missed an episode with Fishburne, but I kinda just sat through the episodes.

I haven't been able to make myself actively watch this series since William Petersen left, but some of the comments on this thread are making me think it's time to start tuning in again. Which is great because I've really missed this show.
