I'm half expecting him to turn up as a murderer in that show. They usualy are borderline insane, inbred, sociopathic, sneering toffs, with all sorts of manipulative behaviours, and dark secrets behind them. Describes DIY Dave to a T. Just look at the way he abuses his wife, Nick Clegg.

That's great! I was actually watching a Midsomer Murders episode this afternoon. There are few things I like better than a Midsomer Murders episode on telly that I haven't seen yet (I've seen all episodes of Morse and Frost by now, but there are still some old MM's that I have never seen, yay!).

I should probably watch Midsomer, given my huge unrepentant love of detective shows. I think I saw a couple of episodes, although all I took away was, "Boy, it's a wonder there's anyone left in Midsomer at all!".

But first, I need to finish this series of Lewis before I go back to Oxford.

I love that Barnaby always points out how ridiculous the death toll seems to be in Midsomer. I remember one episode where he said something like "isn't it funny how this town is so small, yet we always see completely new people each week?"

I've watched and loved this show since I was 10 years old. At that time, I had no friends and was constantly bullied at school. I had no one to talk to without there being some repurcussions that would result in even more suffering at school. Watching this show helped immeasurably. I am now 18, at one of the top universities in my state, with wonderful friends, and just generally in a really good emotional place. Before I discovered fandom, shows such as Midsomer Murders and Inspector Lynley gave me that bit of respite from the hell that was school life, every week. I don't think I would be here without it. :)

I still watch them, plus a whole load of other shows (Morse, Lewis, Taggart, etc etc) with my Mum, and it is the main thing we have in common. Even when I was at my absolute lowest, these shows were something that we could enjoy together, and it helped our relationship a lot. :D

Needless to say, I adore this secret. It's not often I comment here, but I just felt that I had to here. :)

Escapism is an amazing thing when you're a kid. I found my sanctuary in books and daydreaming, and it saved my life, too.

I'm very glad you're in a happier place now!
