It is their racism and sweaty desperation that they aren't being taken seriously that I just can't stand. Guys, it doesn't matter if you drop all the injokes, fanspeak, anime terms, anime pictures, and jokey memes, you will never, ever, eh-heh-evar be given that recognition! You're just ripping the heart out of the site for no reason, in fact, it is kinda funny how you are doing it, driving away your old users, but no matter what you rip out, and who you get to piss off, you are still going to be that bunch of nerdy losers.

You might as well be the lovable nerdy losers that people loved to be part of, like you used to.

A lot. The new rule is that if you have to read the article to see what it is about then it must be renamed. Too many morons were getting confused. Oh and no anime, because those filthy japs were getting their sleazy disgusting language all over Fast Eddie's pure white Klan approved wiki, spreading their cultural awareness, and eugh, "diversity" all over the place and forcing people to realise that America isn't the only country on the planet. That had to stop, those filthy squinty eyed nips!

Uh...I don't go to TV Tropes as much as I used to, but as far as I have seen, there are still plenty of anime examples...Have I just somehow managed to avoid seeing all the articles where the anime examples were wiped out?

And this probably isn't going to change your opinion of the site in the slightest, but I just checked and they changed "When a Jerk Loves a Tsundere" back to "Takahashi Couple", although the page doesn't contain examples (they all go on Belligerent Sexual Tension, apparently.)

Tell me, can you produce an actual URL to anyone talking about "filthy japs" and "squinty eyed nips" in relation to preferring English terms over Japanese terms on a website that is theoretically for the education of an English-speaking audience?

Because if not, you are the racist. Like a little baby, you want everything just your own way, and not getting things your own way makes you explode in a tantrum of racist epithets. Does it matter that you are putting those vile racist sentiments in someone else's mouth? Not in the least; it's still you spewing that venom everywhere because you were denied getting everything just the way you want it.

TVTropes is kind of my addiction. Every time I watch a new movie or something I always have to check and see if there is an article for it (and 9 times out of 10, there is).

Are you talking about the bit on the fanfic recs page that says "Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexual* or non-canon territory.

Some of the pages still say you should warn if a story goes into slash territory, unless I missed something the last time I looked at a rec page.

Well, yeah, it's a wiki, and there are a lot of fanfic recs pages. It's being changed, though, and the best thing to do is to change it as you see it, instead of hoping that it will all magically shift over, and being pissed off when it doesn't.

That pissed me off too but it does seem to be on its way out now to be replaced by a more sane warning (although 'non-canon' is pretty clear code for 'slash' if you ask me). I assume someone spoke up on that one.

Explicit material is a pretty standard warning (I mean, I'm not squeamish in the slighest but I still like to know whether or not there's going to be hardcore sex in a story), but I think their warnings still technically call for any pairings that are not canon, sexually explicit or not...

Really? I've only read and never participated, but a friend of mine had ranted about how creepy TVtropes is on multiple occasions. He thinks it's a den of pedophilia and Nice Guys, from what I remember. (I avoid the topic because damn, he does not shut up, and he seems to OBSESS over it.)

Then again, he reads about it from SA.... Blarg.

/shrugs I can't speak to much about the site itself since I rarely if ever go there - but I do know that the 'tropers' I've known have all been...less than pleasant to be around, for various reasons - so I can't say I've got the best impression of the site, OP. Still, I'm glad it makes you happy.
