(Anonymous) 2012-01-02 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)I hate the way everyone is portrayed there...I'm an only anime girl so yeah...(frankly I can't see manga!Hikaru EVER getting married to anyone - she was made out to be such a pure!Sue. The anime!Hikaru on the other hand. *whistle*)
I only admit that the manga exists because the girls were allowed to stay...though I don't like how the end is completely portrayed there either. ><;

But I still hold the canon portrayed in the manga over the canon in anime, because that's the way CLAMP wanted to portray it. I actually like the anime and manga equally, but I still think the manga is more accurate. But that's just my opinion~
(I actually liked the Hikaru in the MKR game the best, since it was a combination between manga!H and anime!H.) <--- I swear I'm not an old fart, okay

(Anonymous) 2012-01-02 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)I love the more knowledgeable Hikaru, the less ditzy Fuu and the less clueless Umi in the anime version.
I love the way relationships develop in the anime (manga Fuu meets Ferio one time in season one and in season two they seem to have somehow become star crossed sweethearts; manga Lantis doesn't know Hikaru's name through almost the whole thing; manga Umi doesn't have any interest in absolutely anybody and every implication flies over her head completely).
I love the more developed Zagato and Emeraude in the anime and the fact that Zagato actually tells Emeraude he loves her (even though he barely whispers it for us to hear it). I thought that the way CLAMP handled their relationship was so much more enjoyable. I could actually feel sorry for Zagato when he died even before I knew that he'd tried to actually save Emeraude.
I love how the relationships between the invading countries and the girls were handled. In the manga I barely acknowledged Autozam, Chizeta and Fahren as plot points and not individual countries with awesome rulers!
I could go on but you don't wanna hear essays and counter essays me thinks. xDDD

(Anonymous) 2012-01-03 12:12 am (UTC)(link)lol I don't remember that thing in the picture happening. Then again, I was kinda young when I played it so it probably didn't register if it did happen. Tho I've heard rumors there's a fake translation going around somewhere... Maybe you'll be lucky lol
The game is a lot like the earlier Final Fantasies or the Sailor Moon game (the one for Sega), so if you've played those you kinda know what to expect.

Each of them went through maturity trials and battles so it didn't seem so farfetched when they finally came face to face with Zagato. The anime gave them enemies and trials that were nowhere to be seen in the manga (thus making me wonder when I had blinked and missed the ordinary girls/Magic Knights inbetween transition)
I don't remember if this was broached in the manga but I loved the explanation about how their weapons are only made for them (during the battle with LaFarga). Fuu's pronto mastery of her sword seems more plausible when you consider that her sword is as light as wind in her hands.
(LaFarga by the way, also didn't get to find out the girls' names in the manga before season II. In the anime he made a second appearance in the Shrine of Fire to fight against Zagato - I mean, why was he even in the manga again? I don't remember him participating in any decisive way in battles after he was freed from Zagato's control. In the anime he battled against monsters that invaded the castle and even urged the people of Cephiro to trust and not be afraid. The same can be said about Caldina too...)
I love how Fuu wasn't all 'fufufufufu' and 'ohohohohoho' in the anime. All that giggling and 'appearing not to take anything seriously' annoyed me to distraction in the manga.
Fuu and Ferio had more drama and RL as a 'sort of couple'. Fuu's painful decision to save Ferio from Ascot was incredible for me because she knew that Ferio couldn't really be trusted and yet her heart won over her analytical mind and she was supposed to be the Knight of Wisdom (mind over heart anyone?). xP
Umi was on constant PMS for a long while and after 100 pages of her finding reasons to get angry, it sorta got annoying.
I can barely mention Hikaru without wincing. It's a mystery how she made it through the trek across Cephiro with that kind of gullibility and innocence. In the anime she was aware of more things and was someone I could relate to.
(she saw Fuu and Ferio's budding feelings and even advised her friend to not give up on Ferio after Ferio decided he wasn't worthy to protect Fuu.)
I love how she was both innocent and at the same time aware of Lantis...and the fact that he was a man. In the anime I felt like I could cut the tension between them with a knife sometimes. (thus my secret)
I also found Eagle's fate baffling as well. The man was dying from an incurable disease. If Cephiro had been able to cure that, he would've gone visiting earlier I'm sure.. And even if, say, Emeraude's barrier had been able to prevent him from entering (which it shouldn't have since it only stopped people with destructive intentions and before her death, Eagle had no intention to conquer Cephiro) I'm sure that Eagle's TBC should've been cured without the need for a Sleeping Beauty solution. Just by wishing.
Wasn't he supposed to be a Pillar candidate? Strongest heart and all that jazz?
No matter how the manga bullshitted me, I couldn't shake the feeling that he was never going to wake up from his sleep.
...so, manga!cursed to spend an eternity as a vegetable vs anime!heroic death? Guess which one he would've wanted...
We didn't have informed abilities - in the manga Clef said that Lantis was stronger than him...then the manga never mentioned AND never proved that it was so (the anime followed with Debonair wanting his frightfully strong heart for her cause and Lantis using his pendant to seriously injure the queen of darkness
just to protect Hikaru).Another informed ability: Fuu's smarts (what exactly made her so smart in the manga? IDK, don't ask me...if the obvious points she made supposedly showed her smarts, then everyone else must've been frighteningly dimwitted).
Alcyone died so horribly in the manga. Zagato killed her (and I'm supposed to root for him or something, right?) and then Caldina laughed and said, and I quote, 'what a wuss'
And I'm supposed to like her when she makes a sudden face heel turn. No thank you.
...
THAT'S IT, I'M STOPPING BEFORE I BREAK THE KEYBOARD! (I should make an essay somewhere...xDD)
