Wow, are you anon-stalking me? Why do you care so much about a post that was like months ago? I had to go trawling through LJ comments in my inbox just to remember what I had said. Your comment right now, more than anything, proves my point that YOU have problems letting go of things.
I don't think it's the victim's fault that they were victimized, get that through your brain. Obviously bullies are at fault. But there are things you can do to protect yourself. I was talking from personal experience when I said that you can change yourself and make yourself not a target. I'm not saying it will work for everybody; but it worked for me and a close friend of mine who was also bullied. I never said "victims deserve it". Stop putting words in my mouth.
I think that if you're WALLOWING in it ten years later you need to get over it. Take active measures to get over it. I'm sure what happened to you is horrible, but it doesn't justify taking your anger out on random strangers on the internet for no reason.
Seriously, what did I ever do to you? Get over it.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-11 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)Saying you can "change yourself and make yourself not a target" is 1) not true, and 2) the first step on a very slippery and dangerous slope. It's the same rationale that is used to blame rape victims, that they can wear different clothes or not go out at alone at night and they won't be raped. You may not have outright said the victim deserves it, but you implied well enough that victims of bullying brought it on themselves somehow. How else should the phrase "make yourself a target" be interpreted? You're putting a degree of blame on the victims for their harassment, which is wrong.
AYRT is a troll, but they do have a very good point. The things you said in that thread were utterly disgusting.
