Basically anything by fire_tears. She manages to combine humor, romance and angst in a pretty awesome ways. Some of it has been "jossed" by canon (like her "The Fall" series). Pity that she left the fandom

There are a quite a few other decent/good authors for the pairing, sventastic, sans_pertinence ("irrelevance" on archieveofourown), paxnirvana or kontraordinaer, . Though seeing that you know smokerxace, you probably already know about them.

It's also a good idea to look memories of onepieceyaoi100 (pro-tip: the stuff between 2005 and 2009 is what you should look at first).

I could also recommend you some German SmoAce fics, assuming that you speak German...

I ship it too. Along with Ace/Smoker...but not at the same time. When it comes to One piece there is a surprising lack of ship wank from what i have seen. The only ship i can not get into is Zoro/Sanji and that's just because it is so popular and i think they should stick to hating each others' guts.

I don't hate it just because it's popular although i do hate being bombarded with it on every one piece fan page. I didn't like it to begin with because frankly they hate each other, but the fact that it's pretty much the most popular ship made it worse because that's all that i see. Go onto onepieceyaoi on lj and see how many fics are Zoro/Sanji. It's ridiculous.

Was just quoting your own words back at you. I can understand that it's frustrating that a pairing you dislike is so popular. I don't particularly care for the ship either. But saying you dislike it because they hate each other when canon has shown that they actually go out of their way to help each other and they do care for each other, even if they're embarrassed when it's pointed out in any way, seems weird when you're talking about liking a ship where the two people involved are literally enemies.

Let me restate then: I don't like ZoSan because it's shoved in my face every day and because, while they do help each other out, they can't be in the same room without fighting. I like angry sex as much as the next girl but when distaste is the only feeling between two characters they don't really make a great ship. I accept that some pairings make no sense but when the fans are pushing for it to be canon and it's literally everywhere i go i begin to detest it.

As for Ace/Smoker yes they are literally enemies, but Smoker is always toeing the line between the marines and the pirates. Ace, god rest his soul, also toed the line between piracy and justice. They both had their own ideals concerning what justice was and is and while it's not the healthiest relationship it's not shoved down peoples' throats every day.

I'm with you. I don't hate Zoro/Sanji but to me, they are WAY too similar kind of characters to be interesting as a pairing. And the popularity doesn't help. I don't hate it because it's popular but it DOES get annoying when pretty much everything is ZoSan. Sometimes I think that the western fandom is boring as hell. In japanese fansites you can find all kinds of pairings. It's not as narrow minded as in the western fandom. Or at least, that's what my experiences tell.

When it comes to my own writing i stick to pairings that are either unheard of or not popular. Although my unhealthy obsession with Ace/Smoker is an exception...And Law/Kidd.
