I know it's awful, that's why it's a secret.

I think I must misunderstand the definition of hipster, don't they like obscure things because they're obscure and want them to stay obscure because they hate all things popular and mainstream? Or is there another definition I'm not aware of? (I'm not being snarky or antything, I genuinely want to know.)

And they don't want things they like to become mainstream.

Once that happens, they are thrown into a paradox.

I dunno; some hipsters insist that things stay obscure even though it'd benefit the author/creator. I was partially joking, tho, don't sweat it.

NOBODY knows what "hipster" means anymore, it's another one of those annoying words like "emo" that has been overused and misused to the point where it has virtually no meaning anymore.

For what it's worth, most people are really using it as a synonym for "elitist" but I guess "hipster" sounds more snide, because there's nothing that people in fandom hate more than the idea of someone who is fashionable and/or cool I guess

Yeah, that is the most common definition. They want things they like to stay obscure for their own selfish reasons, whether it be to act like they're cutting edge because they 'discovered' an unknown band, to say things like "you wouldn't know it" so they can seem interesting, or, in the case of this secret, to ensure that they never have to compete with anyone else to enjoy what they like.
