I don't think you need to feel bad about it, and I wouldn't say it makes you a sadist unless you enjoy watching others go through the same things in real life. Even if the fic is objectively bad and other angst-lovers laugh about it, there's no need to berate yourself for enjoying it. Everyone has some kind of guilty pleasure. Mine is kidfic - I will read that stuff no matter HOW bad it is, though most of it in my fandom is so crappy I'd never admit it. So I know how you feel.
...Now that I think about it, I tend to be the kind of person to make fun of too much angst. Sorry if I've ever made you feel self-conscious about it. >.>'
