NF: I dunno, it makes sense to me. I'm in both fandoms personally, but I've known a lot of LotR purists, and while anger rather than acceptance isn't the most mature of responses, I get it. When you've loved a piece of literature for years, have deep respect for the author, find the world it's set in vast and interesting, and you care deeply for the characters, I see how you could feel insulted when others say they are comparably excited just because of the actors who are in it.
