I find this secret adorable. We all have soft spots for our old Mary-Sues. Why not write a fic where you revamp her and tone her down into a more realistic, less Sue-ish character? After a decade more writing experience, you're probably good enough to pull it off.

Because Sorato came completely outta nowhere. I completely understand if you can only ship him with a (bad) OC. Everyone did back in 2002.

But yeah like someone above me said, you can still ship him with your OC, just fix it up to be realistic!

I have the same problem, except with Gary from Pokemon. I tried to "fix" it by shipping him with other canon characters, and while I did enjoy reading fic of that pairing, it just wasn't the same. I finally decided that my stupid canon char/OC ship is fine, since I do realize how problematic my Mary Sue OC is. I'll just make sure to keep it all in my head or on my own computer.

I think everyone needs some type of wish fulfillment or escapist fantasy.

Aww. I think a lot of people kinda have a soft spot for their own Mary Sues and having them be the ~special~ ones and pairing them with the characters.

They're not called power fantasies because they're not fun, after all.

IIIIIII'm just going to come out and say hi, this is OP. I was totally expecting to be ridiculed for this, but ;; Aww, you guys.

Honestly, I have been considering rewriting the fics and reworking my OC into something believable. Originally, they were a crossover with EarthBound (aka that game that Ness in Smash Bros. is from) and the OC was a blatant self-insert (so she had all of the coolest powers and shit); the premise was your basic "Ninth Child" kind of thing. I know the idea is clichéd as hell and way overdone, but... I honestly think I'd like to make my OC believable and realistic and do the idea justice. When I was rewatching DA01 I really got a good grasp of all of the canon and background stuff (which, admittedly, I did not when I was writing these).

I think, if I can find a way to recreate the premise and make it mesh into the series' canon better, then I might be able to pull it off. I haven't written anything apart from RP stuff in over two and a half years, I'm in a terrible dry spell, and I've got a huge burst of inspiration for this right now. So I want to try it.
