I see nothing wrong with taking religion to heart, but seriously, you can't dictate an entire fandom and it's pairings because it just-so-happens to include religion as a part of the plot.

The fact that the series is about vampires and is set in a universe that's considerably more fantasical than our own isn't, to my mind, a watertight excuse for utterly disregarding central tenets of religious doctrine, though. Yeah, the Trinity Blood universe is weird and the Church isn't quite doing what it would be over here, but it still seems reasonable (or at least it does to a fandom outsider like myself) to assume that the faith is at least still recognizable as Catholicism. If the characters weren't at least supposed to be celibate, they might as well be High Church Anglicans. I wouldn't go so far as the secret poster and say anyone who shipped the characters anyway was daft for doing so, but I would consider that the best thing to do would be to at least acknowledge the elephant in the room instead of trying to pretend it didn't exist.

Elephants are cute. \:D/

(Anonymous) 2007-07-06 03:26 am (UTC)(link)Being celibate is a important part of priesthood, so it pisses me off how all these fans are blatantly ignoring this, and making Abel and Tres/Esther/Insert Character Here fuck each other like bunnies in the Pope's room and not feel guilty about it.
They would at least be ashamed of their homosexuality/feelings/cravings because of the way they have been taught by the church. So Abel being happy-go-lucky about fucking Tres just doesn't seem right to me.
