In the past I've met cis straight men who read and wrote fanfic and most wrote ship fic, though they usually weren't too hardcore about it. But of those I've met, most of them would give a good m/m slash fic a chance now and then.

Not saying you don't have a point, in general, but they're out there and they're not blanket m/m slash-haters.
