It's not about it being surprising, it's about it being shitty. Nobody is surprised about Disney catering to the sexist society.

Also Disney is making a lot of movies about male heroes, not sure what you're talking about there. Even among the "Disney Classics" we have Pinocchio, Bambi, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Brother Bear, Robin Hood, Treasure Planet, Jungle Book, Emperor's New Groove, Tarzan, blablabla. Lots of movies, anyway.

I may be wrong, but I think they may be saying that the emphasis isn't really on those characters in the marketing. Plus in Snow Queen, the primary character is a little girl.

Huh? They specifically said "If that were true, wouldn't they primarily be making more films about male heroes?".

I'm not sure what you mean with"emphasis in the marketing", sorry, that's me failing at English. Do you that they would put more emphasis on promoting a male character in a movie that has a female lead if it were true?
Because the 2 minutes of the Tangled trailer have about 15 seconds showing Rapunzel (not counting her hair) and is being ALL about Flynn.

Or maybe you talk about "Disney Princess"? Because that's a specific franchise and while certainly big, only part of Disney's marketing.
