You're not alone, anon. I was completely underwhelmed by Looking for Alaska, and I had absolutely no idea why everyone was practically creaming themselves over it. I'm on the waiting list to check out The Fault in Our Stars from the library, because everybody's raving about it like it's the seconding coming of Christ, but I'm not holding my breath. And you know what? That's okay. Not everyone has the same taste, and there's nothing wrong with honestly disliking a book that other people like. And if your fandom friends have issues with that, tell them to shove it.
