People buy computers for all sorts of different reasons. How are you different from anybody else?

I kind of understand where you are coming from, I think...
I want to consume less, aside from the absolute necessary. It really feels liberating and it supports my political opinion. My fandoms are the only things still tempting me to buy (unnecessary) stuff (I can also support most of my fandoms through donations).
But I probably only can do that because I can get a lot of entertainment and information through the internet.

Perhaps you can restrict yourself to "only" one private computer? Or one computer and a handheld device?

Same here really.
I mean I do other stuff online but it's all fandom related somehow. Or almost. Like I watch youtube videos. But they're vlogbrothers videos. And make up tutorials. But that's probably a fandom too.

I recently got an iPhone and before that I used my iPod Touch to store all my fanfiction. Now I use my iPhone for that and read new ones because I now have internet everywhere I go. And I keep in touch with fandom friends and they update me on recent happening regarding movies and actors and I do the same for them.

I even got a twitter account so I could download the app and use it to follow celebrities so I don't just see the tweets when they are posted on tumblr.

Why is it so wrong? I tell people with no shame that one of the main reasons I love my (obsolete by now) iphone is cause I can read public domain books on it while I am on public transport.
