This is one of the things I find wonderful about fandom. I feel like with fandom it's much much easier to take things seriously, critically, and actually look deeper within film/tv/media/etc. It's so wonderful!

haha, congrats! i'm hoping this is what'll happen to me for my politics & film class this term, since my first assignment is going to be a breakdown of the hegemonic elements promoted in one episode of a tv show. i'm thinking i'll do it on raising hope, since that could tackle class/family, or legend of the seeker, since i'm sure there's an episode that's got gender/class/family/race. i feel like modern family would be too obvious of a choice, lol

OP: It was a pretty fun assignment, and the ones coming up look to be just as good. ^_^
Surprisingly enough, I found several parallels between Blanche DuBois (A Streetcar Named Desire) and Draco Malfoy. There's a lot to be said for the consequences of failing people's expectations and turning to negative coping methods I suppose.
