Oh, god, there was a sequel? SoNIMH was one of my favourite movies as a kid and even more so now that I can watch it with adult understanding and realize exactly what the hell was going on.

HEE. That's a totally fair opinion man, but though I haven't seen that movie, I've heard it wasn't actually all that decent and that's why it's pretty much widely dissociated from the actual Secret of NIMH. But hey, after that terrifying epicness, any sequel's gonna have trouble stacking up. Feel no shame, everybody likes at least one movie everyone else hates.

....If it were a separate story then I'd say it was an okay children's movie. The fact that it actually tried to pass its story off as a continuation of "The Secret of NIHM" is unforgivable though.

I loved that movie as a kid. I thought that having Martin as a villain was AWESOME.

... Then again, I had terrible taste as a kid. I rewatched it again a couple of years ago, and auuuugh. The animation almost made my eyes bleed.

I've only seen Martin's villain song on youtube, and while I thought it was funny at the time, I don't even remember it now. You're not supposed to forget the villain song in an animated musical. I think I'll pass. The original movie deserved better.

I don't champion remakes often, but I really think someone needs to get on a double-feature NIMH remake, and the first should be more like the book and the second should be about Racso. But it should all be 2D animation and Justin should not change, because he is perfect in every way.

I like the first movie, and I would never want to see it go away, but I'd also like to see one that didn't go all "Magic Amulet!" all over the place.

DA here, but as a fan of the Secret of NIMH book, thank you for saying this. It's still a great movie, but I really didn't like the magical elements they added, especially when fridge logic comes in and you wonder how the scientists at the National Institute were able to make rats with glowing eyes and the ability to levitate objects.
