That's kind of why I love BSG... even the "heroes" are so incredibly flawed, anyone can hate them. Especially those in power who were corrupted.

I personally loved the character but my god I hated the prophet bullshit. It got ridiculous.

Yay, BSG secret!
It was kind of hard for me to outright hate anyone in BSG. I found Lee Adama and Cavil annoying, but other than that, I can't think of anyone I outright hated, even the more "villainy" characters

Lee is probably the closest person on the show that I came to out right hating. All of the heroes are flawed, but Lee was flawed in a way that specifically pissed me off. FUCK HIM FOREVER FOR CHEATING ON DEE AND THEN SAYING SHE'S JUST BEING CRAZY AND INSECURE WHEN SHE CONFRONTED HIM.

Yeah I really came the closest to hating him out of all people as well, but I guess that's just because he was so DUDLEY DO RIGHT about everything, it got annoying

I don't remember that but in context, that shit is crooked. Dee was going through so much already and then her husband does that? Man, that's whack.

It wasn't her most honorable moment, perhaps, but it was pragmatic. Sharon was a Cylon, a member of the race who had wiped out about 99% of humanity. It's natural to decide to toss them out the airlock because of the attempted and near successful genocide. Given the existence of the Cylon sleeper agents, it was a sensible precaution for the safety of what remained of humanity. Again, maybe not her most honorable moment, but she was looking to protect the interests and safety of the remaining humans.

You will note, however, that Sharon happens to be one of the few characters on the show who gets a happy ending. The biggest thing about BSG is that no one on the show is innocent. Everyone does morally questionable actions on the show and no one comes out looking like a saint. It's what they were going for.

Methinks you're misunderstanding the whole point of the show. That's how everyone acts. If you can't handle it, drop it like I did -- I accepted that I'm too sentimental and finicky to be able to keep caring about any of the characters, even if I found some of them really interesting.

I understand the point of the show. I just strongly dislike the character. There are flawed characters on the show I do like despite their flaws (like Kara Thrace).

They ruined her in the later seasons. RUINED. God she was so amazing at the start.

Goodness gracious anon, I get not liking Laura for any given number of reasons but watching BSG as a whole must be painful for you ò_o As mentioned above, half the point is that EVERYONE does atrocious stuff. How do you feel about the Adamas, Tigh, #6, Baltar...?

OP here. I don't mind any of them because the series made it clear that there was some debate about their goodness. With Roslin, it just seemed like she thought she was right, there was momentarily dispute and then they just settled down to "Yeah, Roslin's the best." That drove me crazy.

It's okay for you to hate her for her mistakes. Nobody's saying she did the right thing all the time--I don't think anyone could ever say that. But her mistakes made her human. If you want to hate her for being human and doing what she thought was right at the time, then do so.

I looooooooove early Roslin with the fire of a nova, but both her and Papa Adama became kind of unbearable to me in the last season and a half. It wasn't so much that they kept making fucked up decisions, but the show itself kept saying that their fucked up decisions were all right because they were the ones making them, and I was like you guys, that is not how that works.

I really hated her too for those reasons. I always felt like everyone else was just presented to you for the audience to make a decision for themselves based on the good and bad things they did. But I found Roslin's attitude and actions really repugnant and rather than being morally gray like everyone else it always seemed to be portrayed as her doing the 'right' thing.

I really dislike her but fandom is very hostile to that opinion. The show never seemed to examine her decisions in the same way it did for other characters.
