Maybe people are looking at it but don't find they have anything to say? And maybe it just doesn't stand out enough to be reposted/recc'ed?

What does this say? I've been trying to read it, but it's not working for me and my computer...

Secret Script:

I do fanart for a rather obscure pairing with a small but active fandom. I think my art is about the average quality compared to other art for that pairing, not much different in content either. I just wonder why no one seems to care about it. There's so little fanworks for them, any that exists gets noticed. Except mine. The fans wish there was more art. I make some. They ignore it. I just want to give you guys more to squee about. To pay back for everyone who's doing art and fic for my ship. Tell me what I'm doing wrong!

OP, maybe your artwork is more average than you think, and that's why it's not standing out. Try experimenting! And be sure to post in relevant comms.

Oh... Okay! Thank you!

(OP, I don't know really what to say to this secret, sorry! But good luck with your art. ♥)

I have a feeling I know who this is. (And if I'm right then lol, no sympathy.)

Practice. Draw from real life. Get better. Then you'll get more attention. No matter how art-starved your fandom is, bad fanart will not get you praise.

I know the feeling, OP. I generally just keep on churning stuff out. >>
(If I may ask, what's the fandom?)

My only advice is to draw for your own pleasure. It is human nature to want attention (especially POSITIVE attention), so I know very well that this trite-sounding piece of advice is easier said than done. However, I also know from experience that true joy comes from within. Getting attention for a picture you drew might make you happy in the moment, but it won't bring you joy. Does obsessively refreshing the page after you upload something to see if you got new comments sound like fun to you? And believe me, attention can EASILY become an addiction, especially if you aren't used to getting it. This will bring you misery.

TL;DR: it's okay to enjoy attention and it's normal to crave it, but drawing for yourself should be more important than drawing for others. Worry about making yourself happy before you worry about making others happy. And good luck!

There could be a few possible reasons for this:

1. You're not promoting it enough or you're being obnoxious about your promoting.

2. You're not well connected enough in the fandom. Comment on other people's art/fic, make some friends.

3. You're getting into the fandom just as it's dying out...

4. Or people just aren't drawn to your style/you're overestimating your skill level. It happens.

TBH, I'm never going to check out art for a pairing I don't like.
