This times a million. I love the show, really I do, but the attitudes of the everyone involved about the possibility of a relationship in a modern adaptation piss me off. Really, Moffat? They can't be a couple because they weren't in the books? Right, because Irene was a lesbian dominatrix in the books. You already changed one character to fit the times, dammit. Do it again, but this time, carry it through rather than pull some bullshit last-minute "really it's like this" card.

...yeah, I'm getting my hopes up.

Yeah, after "Scandal", I find myself rolling my eyes when they claim "we have to do X (or do X a certain way), cuz that's what happened in canon!"
