I sympathize.

I do like their friendship. But I wish they'd cut out the 'they're so gay for each other jokes' unless they intend to go there.

If one of them was female, it'd be a sure bet a romantic relationship was endgame.

I just want more female/male friendships and gay romances in my tv where it's treated with all the bells and whistles and buildup straight relationships get.

I agree and well said.

I'll admit that I'm not personally a big fan of Sherlock/Watson in most any incarnation of the canon I've come across, but if the show continually jokes about them being gay for one another, why not go there? It's a modern interpretation. It's quite plausible. And frankly, it'd be really, really good for ratings.

No, even the only woman Sherlock was interested in, Irene, was NOT A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP. He is asexual. Are you even watching the show?

You know that everything we watch/read is filtered through our subjective bias. We can watch the same show and draw very, very different conclusions. We are not Sherlock and a tv show/book/movie/chick tract get different reactions from us all.

Agreed 100%. If they were a mixed gender couple, I would be absolutely certain all the references were foreshadowing. I keep hoping it really is foreshadowing, but I know that hope is almost certainly futile. It's 2012, but it's still not late enough, I guess.
