I will try to explain how I feel when it comes to shipping bff relationships (both gay and straight) is that for me yes friendship can turn into more, but why do every hug or touch or shared look have to mean that they want to see each other naked?

The thing is most people don't interpret EVERY friendship in their fandoms this way. They may ship BFF ships X/Y, A/B, and C/D, but most people also like L&M, U&V, and R&S as just friends. Yes, any pair who are BFFs on a popular fandom show will probably have some shippers, but that's also true of any pair who are enemies, any pair who are frenemies, and often any pair who happens to appear on the screen together at some point (and sometimes not even that).

But just because an individual ships a certain Friend/Friend ship (or even a number of them) doesn't mean they think all friendships are like that (esp. not IRL). It just means they like those characters together in a romantic and/or sexy way, too, for whatever reason.

-- Ships a lot of friendships, but also really doesn't ship a lot of other friendships, based on random factors such as specific dynamic, actor chemistry, a possibly the phase of the moon when I first consume the story

To be honest I don't really care about what anyone ships for the most part, even if some ships are just wrong at least from my point of view.

What annoys me is that if I say I don't ship, especially when it is male bff's this makes me homophobic, instead of just the reality that is that I just don't see them as more than friends.

To be completely honest I do ship some friendships too, well at least one Castle/Beckett, and I guess that one don't really count?

Sure, some people are dicks and refuse to believe anyone could not like their ship, and therefore anyone who doesn't must be homophobic (or sexist, or racist, or just plain dumb, or whatever else applies in that case). That's very rude.

OTOH, saying that people shipping two guys together implies they think men can't be friends (which is the comment you agreed with) is ALSO rude.

People can ship a pairing, and even want a pairing to become canon, while also appreciating that in general people can just be friends.

I agree with you.

And maybe I did something stupid or whatever, but the thing is in my mind what I agreed with was not something that was rude or whatnot, but the thing is that I still agree with it, mostly because I am annoyed by the fact that my opinion is less political correct or some BS than someone who thinks everyone should be gay in media.

(and yes I know I am exaggerating and probably went from being reasonable to rude, but really I am fed up with seeing and being attacked just because I don't want everyone on TV to get together, and *gasp* daring to say so.)

It started out that way, but I am pretty sure I made it clear that I was talking about more than that show when I wrote that sentence? If I didn't then I am sorry, and I will not be throwing a tantrum if it becomes canon, I will probably be fangirling with the rest of you or hating it, depending on how it is handled.

Which is why I added the question-mark, and it was the only example I could come up with on the spot, I am cursed/blessed with shipping mostly canon pairings, so it's hard for me to remember something I ship that isn't canon...

Yeah that is really annoying! (Brennan/Booth anyone?) ohhh I can name one! Penny and Sheldon from TBBT! And whatever they are called in NCIS LA: Kensi and Deekes oh and Ziva and Tony from NCIS, but to be honest it is heavily implied in the last two that they have feelings for each other.

I haven't watched TBBT (not a fan of sitcoms, really), or NCIS:LA, but I also think that at least Tony has romantic feelings for Ziva, which is a pity as they make a wonderful pair of friends.

Morgan and Garcia from Criminal Minds? He calls her babygirl and other pet names, and she is really flirty with him, but she has a boyfriend (had? I have no idea what happened to Kevin), and I think Morgan's feelings for her are supposed to be more of the brotherly kind...

I'm too, but I haven't seen Kevin in a while, not since last season (then again, I'm behind right now), and I adore Kevin/Garcia... but I totally love Morgan and Garcia as friends.THe episode where Garcia was shot was beautiful in that aspect. I remember thinking 'if they make Morgan be in love with Garcia after this... it would be tv logical but... it wouldn't be fair to their great relationship as it is...'
