Because this Sherlock is canon asexual! That's why. He's not hitting ANYTHING. It's like you weren't watching the episodes...

When did Sherlock say he's asexual?

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-01-20 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
If he said it, would you believe him?

I don't know about Fenm, but I would. Canon identification works. Just ask Buffy fans. even when there's still wank over Willow's selfidentification, she said she's a lesbian, so she is.

Canon identification works.

Do you also believe that Sherlock's a sociopath, as he claimed in the first episode?

Ya know, come to think of it: Why is it that it's fine for fans to dismiss Sherlock's claim to be a sociopath (and indeed, many fans do), but people get all bent out of shape about the Willow thing? Both of them have done things contrary their "self-diagnosis" (Sherlock is shown caring about people, Willow's been in a straight relationship), so why is one ok, but not the other?

[identity profile] luxshine.livejournal.com 2012-01-20 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe the difference is that one is a sexual identity, and the other is a mental disorder(and here I apologize if I'm using the wrong word. English is not my first language, and I'm not 100% sure of what is the current clasification of sociopathy) that can be diagnosed but shouldn't be self-diagnosed?

Personally, if a character says, in canon, that he/she is bisexual/pansexual/heterosexual/homosexual/asexual or whatever else, then in canon, for me, he/she is that. I've got fanfic to explore the other possibilities. It angers me when the producers of the show try to erase the other possibilities or dimish them somehow (which is why I dislike Willow's claim, since it would've been nice to have a bisexual character on the show, but I accept that yes, in canon, Willow is a self-identified lesbian)

Willow I'd believe. Sherlock is a very different case, I don't believe half of what he says. Even if I do believe Jack Harkness that he can get pregnant.

He really is not. (Hell, if he IS supposed to be a canon asexual, I wish they would outright state that, as that would also be interesting).

(Anonymous) 2012-01-20 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
And if they'd use asexual in the right way (not sexually attracted to any gender) and not Moffs idea of what it consists of (being along, not loving, not having children, no relationships).
