I don't think you run the risk of being one of "those fans" since your analysis is fairly thoughtful and not just completely shallow like "omg squee he's so hot with this other guy!"

+1 I agree with you. I also think he had a Thing for Dåådh and tried to suppress it as much he could. I mean, there were moments when he seemed to seriously consider stopping drinking, but then Dåådh sailed in and to the bottle it was even against Dåådh's advice.

Yes, pretty much! The only other explanation I can see for how he behaves is that he too is in love with Magdalena. That would explain why he wanted his body to be returned to the Wahlstedt's home when he thought he was going to die in the war... But I vastly prefer this interpretation, it's much more interesting, and also daring if they would explore it.

(Here's to vainly hoping for a second series! :S)

Yes, a million times over! It's not even the fact that I madly ship him with Dåådh, but rather that it just really fits the character. Like you said, it'd explain so much.

Also, somewhat off topic, but I'm happy to see so many fans! I'd love to get a real fandom going, but I guess that's kinda hard... I, for one, failed when it came to writing fic (it just didn't work; writing in English for something that had originally been in Swedish).

Funny, because I felt rather the opposite! I tried to write in Swedish but found it much harder than writing in English as usual, not that I'm much of a writer in any aspect... Better then to translate it later, I thought.

I'm all for starting up a fandom though! I could take a look at that abandoned fic again, at least... There has been some activity on the tumblr tag as well, not much, but a little. And there WILL be a DVD (http://cdon.se/film/anno_1790-16270860)! :D I'm hoping that the show will break in Germany or so, then maybe we could get a second season!
