Would you be as worried if it was a female friend writing it? And I don't mean a female writer writing rapefic where the female character gets raped by a male. Would you be as worried if a female friend was writing fic about a female character raping a male (or female) character? Or a male character raping a male character? Somehow, I doubt it.

It's no secret males have rape fantasies too -- I'm a female and it's hot to think about just throwing a guy to the floor and having my way with him however the hell I want without having to bother what he thinks about it and to be able to force my will on him despite the fact that he doesn't want me to and is trying to stop me -- palpably feeling that much power over another is a huge turn-on. Does that make me seem creepy or horrible? Because -- and I think most people take this as a given -- I'd NEVER want to do that to anyone in real life (not that I'm strong enough to, but that's different), and neither do most guys. And male sexuality tends to be more aggressive than females', but most guys' brains and feelings check those tendencies long before they become realistic desires or actions, because the idea of actually raping and harming a real person is horrible to most decent people. Having a kink for it does NOT mean they'd actually do it or condone it in real life.

Now, the two scenarios are not perfectly equivalent -- it's difficult for girls to rape guys, there's no such thing as a rape culture for the gender flip, so fantasies about it are a lot more hypothetical and detached from their immediate sense of reality and more isolated from real world issues than it is in the case of a guy raping a girl, which is uncomfortably close to a widespread and sickening societal problem. But fanfic is supposed to be an *escape* from reality, and from those kinds of real life issues and complexities. In fanfic, do what you want to do, where it will hurt no one and where you don't have to worry about the real world. Just your kinks and pleasure.

To be fair, in many cases of rape the perpetrator is not actually aware that what they did was rape. So even if they think the idea o raping someone is abominable, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't rape. They just won't know that's what they're doing.

Oh definitely, of course -- one of the worst parts of rape culture is how guys who aren't unapologetically evil psychopathic monsters can rape people too, simply because they delude themselves or don't fucking get it, but I was talking about conscious, self-aware, blatantly obvious rape. It's such a complex and messy subject that to do all aspects of it justice would require a shitload more tl;dr.

I agree so much with this secret. For the "having a rape kink and feeling like a bad femminist" part i mean. This wouldn't be like this if people understood the difference between a kink and actually doing/wanting to do/condoning the real thing..
