I totally hear ya. Fandom pretty much made me hat USUK.

I really did use to enjoy USUK... but I also really enjoy Germany/America and America/Korea (both of which are relatively rare). But anyways, back in the day when I used to actually pay attention and discuss stuff on the LJ hetalia comm... I found SO MANY people that were just SO deadset for USUK and how they were THE ONLY ONES who could EVER possibly be paired with each other it made me kinda.. :|... and several shippers actually told me that my other ships were stupid/silly and would never work... but they seemed okay with pairing America with Russia and Canada too? idk. It's basically why discussing pairings in Hetalia just makes me so angry.

Oh gosh, heaven forbid that people MONOSHIP. That's terrible of them. Not everyone is a multishipper, and not everyone can see everyone paired with everyone else. As long as they act civil about that, it shouldn't be a problem if they're deadset on one specific pairing.

(And judging by the second to last part, I hope you also hate RussAme and AmeCan now.)

Maybe I was unclear or maybe you misunderstood, idk.

I am not saying monoshipping is bad. There are certainly series where there's one and only one ship I enjoy.

I'm saying that when I say I enjoy a certain pairing that might not be the popular choice and I get several comments telling me that said pairing is ridiculous by people who DO ship the more popular one then yeah, I might get a little bitter towards the pairing. Or maybe when I'm talking pairings with a friend and ALL they want to talk about is omgee USUK is so cute and they are sooo perfect for each other and hey read this horribly ooey gooey romance fic I wrote about them, and after that read these ten others, and lets continue talking about just the pairing I like because the ones you like are silly. So I read their fics, and then when I make a fic that pairs them differently suddenly the reaction is What no. Maybe I'll read it but that pairing is kinda dumb. It'd never work, it'd be too OOC if it wasn't the pairing I want. Or maybe when I rp England and EVERY America who tags me wants to jump strait into playing out romance stuff. Then yes, after a while my eyebrow starts to twitch at USUK.

And as a matter of fact I DO dislike those pairings, but I've never actually liked them.

I feel there's too much competitiveness between Russia and America, and animosity. IDK I feel like they'd rather have a dick measuring contest then a romantic affair. Though I have enjoyed a hatesex fic or two with them.

As for America Canada.. well, just not too big into incest. I love cute bro fics with them though. Read this super adorable camping trip fic with them a while back. Family fics with the North American Bros give me diabetes.

That being said, I can still see WHY people like these pairings. And just because I personally dislike them, doesn't mean I'm about to go and tell people that their pairing is silly or OOC just because it's not to my personal tastes.

Ugh, I hear you. I really side-eye the fans that god forbid you don't think they are canon. God knows that some of them love to overemphasize about how much my OTP are friends and ONLY friends in fics and TVTropes. I mean damn, you don't have to ship my pairing but can you stop with the overemphasizing that they are only friends in an obviously passive-aggressive manner?

Oh. You mean like how people constantly passive aggressively go on about how USxUK are brothers or father/son (even though they're not, regardless of whether you see their relationship as romantic or not) and ONLY that? Please. That behavior's not unique to any shipping base.

And what the hell does it matter if in their USxUK fics they make your OTP only friends and emphasize that friendship? At least they acknowledge them as friends. That's more than fandom can say for a lot of relationships they don't like.

Except it's in bad form to overemphasize on like it's some golden truth. It's one thing to showcase their friendship but it's another you try to emphasis in a fic that we all know it's going to be USUK so what was the point?

Plus I don't see my OTP fics doing that and I actually ship USUK so take a chill pill, bro. USUK shippers are far from being picked on considering they are the most popular pairing in the fandom. Just saying their shippers do dismiss my OTP from
to time and my OTP is a relative rare pair.

YOU must be new to the fandom if you actually believe that :V Actually, one of the main reasons why people hate ship-bashing in general BUT tend to allow USUK bashing is because "it's a popular pairing"

And let's not forget the countless of comments on Tumblr, DeviantArt and such from people who hate USUK (that has creted more than one hate-group).

I can link you to a at least 10 anti-USUK stamps in which people in the comments treat the USUK shippers as creepy and sick for shipping something they consider "incest" and "pedophilia".

And people overemphasize that with USUK all the time. Pretty tired of my ship being accused of being 'incest' and thus completely in the minds of fangirls IN CANON when that's no way the truth.
