And that's why you should always be a dick about fandom dramas and assume that, unless you personally know the person enough to know that whatever dramatic thing s/he's going through is real, not care too much about it.

In a fandom I'm in, it's 3 times in a row (nearly one each day) that we get news that one of the fans died. Each time, the thread becomes clogged with heartfelt sympathies.
The first one mentioned resulted in one of the band members issueing a message of sympathy as well.

Sure, the intention behind those who express is probably nice, but after many years in fandom, and 3 in a row? I call bullshit, or at least the ones spreading the news are just trying to get a reaction from a band.
