Thiiiiiis.

My god, I almost slapped a girl back in college in my creative writing class. My short story wasn't even romance! It was horror-esque with the girl meeting the guardian spirit of the graveyard and overcoming her fear of death. The Spirit had skin stretched over bones, showed veins, and was translucent.

THE GIRL SAID THAT SHE LOVED HOW MUCH IT WAS LIKE TWILIGHT, AND THAT I CAPTURED THE 'OTHERWORLDY' STUFF AS WELL AS SMEYER DOES. IN COMPLETE SERIOUSNESS. FORGET THE FACT THAT MERYER DISCARDS ACTUAL DESCRIPTIONS TO JUST SAY HOW PERFECT THEY ARE GRRRRRRAAAAAWWW-

...Sorry. Issues. Still recovering. Half the class was looking at the girl as if she was insane, the other half was trying not to laugh (and failing) at the expression on my face. At least that was funny.

But yes. Twilight fans and critiques need to shut up about how popular Twilight it. No, it did not define anything, it just copied same old same old and made it popular.

I just like to rant on the internet sometimes. It's cathartic.

PLUS, IT'S LIKE, DUDE. CAPS ARE FUN.

That's terrible. What on earth? Your story sounds much more interesting and original than Twilight.

Yeah, it has since become one of those 'wtf' stories I tell partly because it is hilarious in hindsight. The most laughs come around when I copy the expression of horrified shock that was on my face when she said this.

It is especially hilarious as the MC was recycled from my NaNoWriMo which was a parody of the vampire romance drama (said MC is the bitter and legitimately plan daughter of the sexy slayer). Said short story made me reconsider the character much more seriously and throw out over 50k words that I had written to write it as a satire of both the genre and the Madonna/Whore complex. (Seriously, wtf MC? I just wanted a vampire nicknamed Eddie who wears body glitter! I wanted HUMOR in the original story! Damn serious short story...)
