Every. Single. Time. There's a living-in-the-wilderness story, I wonder about periods. It's one thing for somebody who's local and grown up in it, but moving from modern trappings to life in the shrubbery, how do they figure out how to manage? Tampons don't grow on trees.

Rags. Wash them in the river. That's how they would do it.

The modern disposable pad hit the market in 1888, and disposable cotton tampons were patented in the 1920's.
